Hello, welcome to my corner!
Starting this blog feels surreal — a mix of excitement, nerves, and gratitude. I have come a long way from the girl who once dreamed of a quiet life in finance. Winning the U.S. green card lottery opened a new chapter, but it was travel that truly transformed me. My first trip to Jamaica didn’t just celebrate a birthday. It changed the way I see myself and the world. This is my very first post, and the one word that best describes how I feel right now is unbelievable. Estelle, writing a blog? They say, never say never! This has been a long time coming, and I’m so glad I finally started. Yay me! 😊
A Little About Me
I am originally from Cameroon, and I currently live and work in the United States. I won my green card through the Diversity Visa Lottery which some might call it luck, but I call it God’s grace. Growing up, I wanted to be an accountant and work in a bank. I even wrote it in my “memoire book” back in secondary school. Well… news flash! I’m not an accountant, and I can’t imagine working in accounting now – no offense to accountants. But I do work in finance, so that’s close enough, right? As a child, I loved playing it safe and staying in my comfort zone. It kept me out of trouble, and before I knew it, I had become my parents favorite child. Today, I am a different person. I love to travel, I am adventurous, and I still love numbers.
My Turning Point
How did I go from being the comfort-zone girl to an adventurer and travel lover? During one of the darkest seasons of my life, I decided to celebrate my birthday in Jamaica. My friends and I traveled to Montego Bay, and that trip changed everything. Somewhere between the ocean breeze and the sunsets, I found peace. I found joy. I found me. That journey opened a new chapter — one filled with discovery, adventure, and gratitude. That’s when I realized: travel heals. Through travel, I have discovered parts of myself I never knew existed.

Living Without Fear
Now, I dare to live. I do everything I set my mind to, without letting fear of failure, or fear of judgment stop me. Starting this blog is part of that journey. Maybe I’ll love it, maybe I’ll fail at it. But either way, I’ll be proud that I tried. Sometimes we sit on ideas, waiting for “next year”, but the truth is, time is fleeting. Get up and do it now. Do it unsure, do it afraid, do it confused. One day, you’ll look back and be proud you did. You’ll never know what’s possible if you never try.
The Journey Begins
Writing this post feels like closing one chapter and opening another. I don’t know where this blogging journey will take me, but I’m excited to find out. If you’ve ever felt stuck or afraid to try something new, take this as your sign. Start now! You might just discover a new version of yourself along the way. Travel taught me that healing doesn’t happen all at once. It unfolds one journey, one experience, one step at a time. Wherever you are in your own story, I hope you choose courage over comfort. The world has a way of revealing who we are when we dare to explore it. So here’s to stepping out of comfort zones, embracing the unknown, and saying yes to the adventures that shape us. Thank you for reading my very first blog post. It means the world to me!
I’d love to hear from you: What moment or journey helped you discover more about yourself? Share your story in the comments or connect with me, let’s keep inspiring each other to live fully and fearlessly.
Until the next adventure,
Estelle 🌴
